How Arlo Sends Prescriptions to Your Pharmacy
How do prescriptions from Arlo get sent to the pharmacy?: A simple guide for Ontario parents
Yes, Arlo can send prescriptions directly to your pharmacy! When our providers prescribe medication for your child, we send it electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, so you can pick it up without any extra steps.
How it works
When you text with an Arlo provider and they determine your child needs medication, they'll ask which pharmacy you'd like to use. You can choose any pharmacy in Ontario that you prefer, whether it's your regular spot, the closest one to home, or even one that's convenient on your way to work.
Once you give us the pharmacy details, our provider sends the prescription electronically through a secure system called PrescribeIT. This is the same system most doctors across Ontario use, so your pharmacist will receive it just like any other prescription. The whole process usually takes just a few minutes.
You'll get a text confirmation from us once the prescription is sent, and many pharmacies will also text or call you when it's ready for pickup. No need to wait around wondering if it went through.
What you'll need
- The name and address of your preferred pharmacy
- Your child's health card number
- A phone number where the pharmacy can reach you
- Your child's current weight (for accurate dosing)
Picking up your medication
When you arrive at the pharmacy, just let them know you're there to pick up a prescription for your child. Bring your child's health card and be prepared to show ID. The pharmacist might ask you a few questions about the medication or go over how to give it to your child, which is totally normal.
If your usual pharmacy is closed or far away, don't worry. You can always ask us to send the prescription somewhere else that's more convenient. We're flexible because we know life with kids doesn't always go according to plan.
Common questions
Can Arlo send prescriptions to any pharmacy in Ontario? Yes, we work with all licensed pharmacies across the province. Whether it's a big chain or your neighborhood independent pharmacy, we can send prescriptions there.
What if my pharmacy doesn't have the medication in stock? The pharmacist will let you know and can usually order it for next day pickup. If it's urgent, they can also help you find another location that has it available.
How long does it take? Most prescriptions arrive at the pharmacy within 5 to 10 minutes of our provider sending them.
The takeaway
Getting your child's medication should be the easy part of dealing with illness, and Arlo makes sure it is.
You can always text Arlo and talk to a provider in 5 minutes!
